A man is recovering in hospital after being bitten by a shark while windsurfing in Western Australia.
The 46-year-old was foil boarding at South Rocks, about 2.5km east of Wedge Island near Lancelin, north of Perth, when he was bitten on the ankle about 3pm Sunday.
He was taken to Joondalup Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
It is unclear what species of shark was involved, according to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.

The department is working with local authorities to monitor the incident.
