Lower Chittering man charged over alleged hit-and-run incident in Carlisle in December

Lower Chittering man charged over alleged hit-and-run incident in Carlisle in December

A 31-year-old man will front court in Perth accused of trying to kill another man by running him down with his car.

WA Police say the alleged crime occurred on Harris St in Carlisle when the accused hit the victim with a Toyota HiLux about 7pm on December 21.

The four-wheel-drive also caused structural damage to the front storage room of a unit when it was driven into it, authorities allege.

“It will be further alleged the accused offered no assistance to the victim before fleeing the area,” WA Police said on Thursday.

Footage shared by police in December showed one man being taken out as he tried to dart to safety, with the car hurtling on and crashing into the unit.

The vehicle was then put into reverse and driven away.

The victim was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

At the time, police said the dispute was sparked by a verbal confrontation.

Now, nine months later, the accused, a 31-year-old man from Lower Chittering, 60 km northeast of Perth, has been charged with attempting unlawfully to kill, failing to stop and ensure assistance is received, and failing to stop over the property damage.

The accused will appear in Stirling Magistrates Court on October 25.
