A driver has been killed when his vehicle hit a tree after veering off a highway about 40 kilometres east of Perth.
A 58-year-old man was behind the wheel of the Great Wall travelling east along Great Eastern Hwy when the utility left the road and struck a tree near Chidlow Rd in Sawyers Valley.
The crash unfolded about 12.25pm Sunday, authorities said.

The driver suffered critical injuries in the incident and died at the scene.
The major crash division is investigating what caused the emergency and has asked anyone with information or dash-cam vision to contact police.
There have been 83 deaths recorded on WA roads so far in 2023, the same number of fatalities recorded at the same point twelve months earlier.
